As a potential Co-Founder, you need to be the entrepreneurial, adventurous and creative. If you do have a penchant for taking risks and creating cool products that could change the world (or at least the web experience), this position is for you. You should be comfortable making executive decisions in a T-shirt and jeans. At first, your decisions will be of the cuisine variety (ie where to order delivery from) but will quickly escalate to far more significant tasks, such as building your tech team. Basically, we are looking for a leader with a passion for tech and a lack of fear.

Our business will involve creating a browser bar, so you should have an idea how that works. You also should be familiar with the social-media environment, which plays an essential role in our business.

You should possess these technical skills:
A deep understanding about how browser toolbars are created
Expert knowledge of JavaScript, with and without library code
Understanding of server programming, streaming and cloud computing
A solid understanding of CSS / HTML
CMS Systems (could be Drupal)
In-depth experience with scripting languages (probably PHP): 2+ yrs.
Object Oriented Programming & Design skills.
JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
Experience with LAMP stack, including database management systems (probably MySQL), queries and deployment.
Apache server configuration experience.
User and test-driven development methodologies
Facebook API, Ajax, Amazon S3
iPhone/Android development a bonus
Experience of building consumer/social web products a bonus
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

About HypedSound – HypedSound is a social music platform for artists and listeners. The premise: Why be a member of a dozen different music networks when one site can meet all your music needs? With HypedSound you can host your online music profile and network with other artists and listeners just like on the other music social networks, but we take it a step further by adding modules specifically for online music collaboration, contests, finding band members, music discovery, and music information. What we have now is just the beginning of our ultimate vision to be the default music platform for interactive music services, that is, going beyond streaming music. We have a lot of new ideas that we’d like to discuss as we improve the existing product and solidify our early adopting user base.

Sample user: Molly is in a rock band and uses HypedSound to share her band’s music with the HypedSound community. Her band networks with other artists and their fans, but her band lost their drummer and needs a replacement. She then goes to the Virtual Auditions section and posts a classified ad along with a video of her band playing live, hoping to lure some talent in from someone in her area. Sam, a drummer, has been using his listener profile to browse music and take part in the forums. He uses the Collaborate section to add tracks to other people’s music but now he’s ready to find a band. Luckily, he doesn’t have to go far because he finds the ad that Molly posted and immediately goes to check out her band’s profile and respond to the ad. They then meet up to jam and go back to HypedSound to show-off their new demo.

Requirements – A programmer, web developer with extensive knowledge of PHP. The site also utilizes JavaScript, XML, Ajax, and DTHML and the database architecture is MySQL. Expertise in additional languages, platforms, and technologies a plus.

Compensation – Even though we have already put in a considerable amount of time into the company in addition to a financial investment, we do not undervalue the importance of having a technical lead. Because we are currently a bootstrapped company and pre-revenue, the arrangement involves no salary initially, but we offer equity comparable to that of a co-founder and commensurate with dedication and experience. If you cannot commit full-time, we are open to discussing a “nights and weekends” type arrangement in the short-term. If you can see yourself passionate about the project in the long-term, we’d love to talk to you.
Location (NYC, Virtual) – We are flexible in terms of location in the short-term. Ideally you would be able to relocate to New York City in early 2011 pending funding and revenue status of the company.

About Us
We only have a modicum of technical experience (some HTML), but strong administrative and program development background in the realm of K-12 education. We have however, developed a strong concept that has already been partially realized on the web. The early stage team is lead by a proven rainmaker with the demonstrated ability to go straight from bootstrapping to Angel and VC funding with the right partner(s).

What’s Needed
An entrepreneurial visionary with a real JFDI mentality. Familiarity and/or demonstrated capacity in PHP, Javascript, CSS, CMS, Python, etc., and especially MySQL. Strong database background essential. Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter) helpful. The ideal Technical Co-Founder/CTO will be well-versed in current educational tech used for the purposes of assessment and accountability.

You must be able to convey technical concepts to team members, educators and other non-IT stakeholders in clear, concise layman’s terms. Good understanding of the business side of the industry.

Location
We are located in New York City and look to take full advantage of the resources available through Silicon Alley. Therefore, the ideal Technical Co-Founder/CTO will be located in the Tri-State area. However, we are flexible and open to a telecommuting/virtual arrangement given the proper circumstances.

Compensation
This is currently an equity-only position with an obligatory vesting period required. There will be heavy bootstrapping at the front end, so we’re comfortable with folks who freelance or have part-time positions. We’ll be going after VC and Angel funding quite aggressively, and the site itself will be fee-based in nature. This should lead to competitive salaries once the site begins to realize its full potential.
