Liv:
Liv is a web-based start-up company that provides online shoppers with the social experience they have been missing. At it’s core, Liv allows you to collect and organize all your favorite products from all over the Internet to your wish list to compare, share, and store for later. But this alone does not distinguish Liv from other social shopping websites. By leveraging users’ existing friend lists and profiles from sites such as facebook, Liv lets you instantly recommend and share products with the people you care about. Our simplistic and efficient interface makes for a seamless transition from the solitary experience of online shoppers today to a social experience that more closely resembles in-store shopping.

How we’re different:
Unlike the majority of tech companies located in Silicon Valley, Liv’s success will not be based on acquiring early technology adapters as our primary users. We recognize that mainstream internet users, such as women in their 20s and 30s, are a rich growing market that has a huge need for this product. Advertisers and retailers also want to target this audience because of their discretionary income and desire to shop, but reaching these individuals through the internet can be challenging as they have a lower tech knowledge than early adapters of web-based applications. At Liv, we embrace this challenge because we believe that websites can be simple enough for everyone to use them while still providing a valuable product for a large market.

Current State:
Liv is fully developed and is currently cleaning up the look and feel of the website. We are in a private Beta working out of Palo Alto, California.

Essential Skills

• Ample experience in web development and design
• Lamp Stack Experience (Python, Pylons, HTML, CSS, XHTML, XML, Javascript, JQuery, Ajax, JSON, etc…) along with related technologies
• Project will deal with social media platform
• Strict adherence to cross-browser & cross-platform compatibility (CSS framework experience a plus
• Experience with social network APIs such as Facebook Connect, Twitter OAuth, Google Maps, etc.
• Produce and oversee project timelines to ensure timely delivery of finished product
• An understanding of advanced data aggregation methods
• Skills are required in the areas of database design and implementation, php, mysql, javascript frameworks (extjs, jQuery, etc.)
• Experience with UX design and implementation

Compensation
Currently, this is an equity only position as a co-founder, a vesting period is preferred. Based on progression, this initiative could move in several different directions once crucial milestones are reached (profitability and/or venture/angel funding). WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR
A co-founder with technology/coding experience to help in the pre-launch phase.  The basic concept “assigning something to mood” is at the core of this business, I have another project on this theme for the social networking space, so I’m looking for a partner to grow and expand this concept with.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
In Los Angeles. I’d prefer to work with someone who is in the LA area.

WHAT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT IS THIS BUSINESS?
Sorting through revenue models, getting bids from third party developers, talking to VC’s, learning what I can about the streaming music and e-book space, filed a provisional patent on the method.

WHO AM I?
I work in the animation industry, and run two small companies here in California.

COMPENSATION
This is an equity only position. All the terms are flexible, but probably best to work together
